The best homemaker morning routine begins the night before. Built on habits, and using simple tasks makes it easy to implement and repeat this routine. These ideas you can use to help you create a morning routine for yourself that will make each day feel productive. Simple tasks for you, your home, and your family that are geared toward a prepared heart, a tidy home, and help your kids be ready for the day.
The Best Homemaker Morning Routine Begins the Night Before
Starting your day off right begins the night before. You would even call that your evening routine. This would be things like having a clean kitchen and a tidy front room. Setting your coffee pot to brew in the morning. Setting out your Bible and your planner for the morning. Simple things that you can do in a 20-30 minute routine in the evening will make your mornings run so much smoother. It’s never fun waking up and being greeted by visual reminders of things that need your near-immediate attention.
Hydrate & Move
This part of your homemaker morning routine can look anyway you like. From fixing a glass of water and going for a short walk outside, to filling your water bottle and heading to the gym. By prioritizing these two things in the morning you are taking care of your physical needs.

We wake up naturally dehydrated. Choosing a glass of water first, over coffee, helps rehydrate our cells, wake up our digestive system, and flush our systems. Movement get the lymphatic and digestive systems moving as well.
Make a Top 5 List for Your Homemaker Morning Routine
This was a game changer for me in my homemaking! By sitting down and thinking of the top five things I can do each morning to get the home working and stay on top of the clutter and messes I am able to begin each day with some small tasks that make a big difference.
My top 5 every morning is to start with something super simple, and that is to make our bed. This can be either neatly folding back the covers to let the sheets and pillows “breathe”, or a fully made and styled bed. Doing this simple thing as a part of my morning routine makes our bedroom immediately feel tidier. And it is inviting to walk through our room at various times throughout the day and see a made bed that is waiting for me after a full day.
Starting a load of laundry…
is next on my list. Since I am awake, it’s time for my employees, I mean appliances, to start working! By doing a load of laundry each day I never get behind or overwhelmed. We are a family of 5 people so we generate a fair amount of laundry. By doing one load daily, start to finish, this chore never feels like a burden. In fact, our teenage son takes over the rest of the process as part of his daily responsibilities. If your family is larger, or you have a younger kids who go through more laundry, you may do better to work 2 loads into your day. But a load a day keeps the laundry mountain away!
Ready the dishwasher
That is next on my top 5 list for my morning routine. It may be adding a few more dishes and starting the dishwasher, or unloading it. Either way, I get this workhorse in our house going for the day. It makes a big difference in the overall tidiness of our home.
Prepare for breakfast
We are a family that eats just about every meal at home. Having an idea of what I am making for breakfast helps the morning run that much smoother. I set out the ingredients and cooking items I need so that it is all ready for when the boys get up.
Pick one thing
Last thing on my top 5 list in this homemaker morning routine is to have one thing, that if I don’t get to any other cleaning that day, I still made a dent. These usually come from my weekly rotation list. Each day of the week I focus on a room of our house. I pick one things from that room that I most definitely want to have done and tackle it as early as possible. Whether that is just a quick dusting, washing the windows/mirrors, or a 5 minute declutter, IT GETS DONE.
Time in the Word For the Best Homemaker Morning Routine
Now that I have rolled through my top 5, which takes me typically 20 minutes, I am ready to sit in the quiet for a little bit. I have the coffee pot programmed to brew when I get up, so that delicious hot cup is waiting for me now.

I grab my bullet-proof coffee, my bible, and my commentary. Then I sit at our kitchen table and spend about 15 minutes reading and studying the scriptures. It is amazing at how much we can learn and know about God when we spend intentional time in the Word. All you need is your Bible and a plan, and you can have a wonderful time studying your bible.
Making this a part of your morning routine sets you up for the day. God’s word is alive and active, good for all seasons and circumstances, and a balm to our weary souls. Going without your daily bread makes you more vulnerable to sin and sadness.
Look Ahead for the Rest of the Day
Now that you have fueled your body, your mind, and your soul, spend a few minutes just mentally running through the day. Check the calendar for appointments or tasks that need to be seen to. Make a plan for lunch and dinner. Line up your lessons for the day if you are a homeschool family. Just having an overall idea of the plan for the day will help you navigate unforeseen mishaps or redirections.

Guide the Kids’ Day
Since you are prepared for the day by walking through your homemaker morning routine you are now ready to guide your kids through their own morning routines. This implies that you are awake before your children if they are still young, or that you have taught similar habits to your older kids and they are self-starters if they are up early with you.
If not, you are leading by example as you complete your morning routine alongside them.

The Best Homemaker Morning Routine
The best homemaker morning routine is ultimately one that makes the most sense for the season of life you are in and the needs you have to meet. By using these ideas as an outline I hope you feel inspired to sit down and work out your own version of this awesome routine. It may not work perfectly right away. You will have to tweak and adjust as you figure out what makes sense for YOUR home.
The purpose of this routine is to minimize stress and help to set the day off on the right foot. Between some simple tasks and prioritizing some minutes for your physical health and well being, as well as your spiritual health, you will feel more prepared for each day.
Remember, your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the grave lives inside of you. He is your Helper to depend on in times of need, to cause you to remember truth when you need it, and to strengthen you.
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

Ha! Sometimes I go so far as to think of the appliances that sing as the birds tweeting like they do at Snow White. They sound so chipper and happy after completing their “job”.
At minimum, I hope you were encouraged! 😍
You bet!
