ABOUT

the woman becoming.

There is a strange thing about growing older:

Every new season of life is the first time you’ve ever been you in that season. The first time you’re a wife at this age. First time you’re raising children this age. The first time you’re navigating this particular challenge, this particular joy, this particular version of yourself.

And sometimes we forget that we’re not supposed to have it all figured out.

That’s why I’m here.

I’m here to sit beside you on my porch and remind you whose you are and where to look.

Christ.

I want to remind you that you don’t have to figure everything out to live an abundant and joyful life. You simply have to greet each day with the hope you carry in Christ and faithfully walk in what God has placed before you.

Because the mundane moments are often some of the most beautiful.

The hard moments make the joyful ones shine all the brighter.

Also, when your feet are standing on the Rock that is Christ, your Redeemer, they don’t have to be shaken by every changing season.

The Home We Cultivate

I believe homemaking is a gift to the people who call our homes theirs.

It is an offering of love, peace, joy, kindness, patience, faithfulness, and goodness.

It is one of the primary ways I have learned to walk by the Spirit in the ordinary work of everyday life.

Homemaking doesn’t require spending money or having the newest thing.

It is stewardship.

It is taking what God has placed in our hands and using it with purpose to create an atmosphere that fosters rest, peace, joy, and creativity for those who live there—and rest, hope, and joy for those who walk through the door.

Because hospitality has less to do with how a home looks and far more to do with how people feel when they are in it.

A beautifully curated home can still feel cold.

A humble home can feel like a refuge.

Atmosphere matters.

The People We’re Raising

I believe discipling our children is one of the greatest joys and responsibilities God has given us.

It doesn’t require a complicated curriculum.

It requires a Bible, conversation, and a life that points toward Christ.

Scripture tells us to talk about God’s Word when we rise and when we lie down, when we sit in our homes and when we walk along the way.

That’s the kind of discipleship I want to practice.

My love for Jesus doesn’t fit into a fifteen-minute devotional window.

It is woven into how we handle conflict and hurt feelings.

  • How we make decisions.
  • How we mourn.
  • How we celebrate.
  • How we forgive.
  • How we serve.
  • How we live.

And discipleship doesn’t stop with our children.

I believe we are meant to encourage one another in the faith, too—to come alongside younger women, share what we have learned, and point one another back to the Word.

So that is what I hope to do here.

Not from a pedestal.

From the seat next to you.

A Peaceful Home

A peaceful home is not a perfect home.

It is a home that beckons to the people who call it home.

A place where they know they can find calm in a stormy season.

Joy and celebration.

A cozy place to rest.

A nourishing meal or a tasty treat.

And, always, a reminder to look to Christ.

Underneath that peace are rhythms:

  • Rhythms for caring for our minds, bodies, and spirits.
  • Rhythms for caring for our spaces.
  • Rhythms for feeding our families.
  • Rhythms for working and resting.
  • Rhythms that change as our seasons of life change.
  • The rhythms don’t create the peace.

They simply make room for it.

What I Won’t Promise You

I won’t promise that I have everything figured out.

I’m not the professional homemaker who never forgets to switch the laundry.

I still have hard days…

lose my patience…

have routines that fall apart….

I don’t even promise to execute my own ideas perfectly.

I promise something different:

Honesty.

Authenticity.

Humility.

Encouragement.

Because I am still becoming, too.

These Full Hands

Right now, I’m learning that it is okay to need a reset.

I’m learning how to articulate this journey honestly.

I’m learning how to be me as a 41-year-old wife and mother, because I’ve never been her before.

I’ve had experience.

learned things,

made mistakes,

and gained wisdom.

But every season brings something I’ve never navigated before.

And maybe that’s true for you, too.

So here’s what I believe:

Everything is figure-out-able.

Not because we can figure everything out ourselves.

But because we know the One who walks with us through it.

We don’t have to know exactly what tomorrow holds.

You and I can faithfully tend what is in our hands today.

We can laugh,

learn,

reset.

We can begin again.

And we can become.

That’s what These Full Hands is about.

Come sit with me awhile.

Let’s figure it out together.
