What if in 60 days you could reset your life, going from overwhelmed and tired to faithfully stewarding the life you were meant to live?

But before we go any farther to reset your life, let me tell you what won’t happen. This isn’t some task list idea that if you check all the boxes you will arrive at some destination of perfection.

And I am not writing to you as one who has already arrived! You see, I have come to the beautiful and humbling realization that I am still becoming.

So, this Reset Your Life in 60 Days is really me sharing with you how I am resetting my life.

One day at a time.

One faithful moment at a time.

These full hands + one ordinary life.

What’s the plan, then? I’m glad you asked!

Beginning

I am one week in on this Reset Your Life in 60 Days adventure. The best thing learned so far: beginning is the hardest step. But once you do, JUST DO THE NEXT THING.

I started with my mornings. They are the catalyst for a good day. I wanted to frame the morning with a simple rhythm that sets my day in motion, but not in a full steam ahead sort of way. It had to be a manageable, repeatable list.

This rhythm also needed to hit a few different areas: wake up the home, wake up my spirit, wake up my body.

As homemakers, it’s easy to think of the hundred and one things we could do around our house and in the other areas we manage. However, the goal is not to have the most productive day possible.

The goal is to faithfully steward what is in front of us.

So beginning this reset meant coming up with a simple rhythm that hit these three areas. What I came up with was:

  • unload the dishwasher
  • rotate laundry
  • move my body
  • make bed + get dressed
  • coffee + Bible

This simple rhythm has been a catalyst to days that feel inviting and full of opportunity instead of overwhelming.

As you think about the reset for your life, consider your morning as it is already. What simple ways can you bring together a rhythm that will be easy to manage?

Reset Your Life With New Rhythms

We are creatures of habit. And not every habit is life-giving.

For instance, I had allowed the habit of picking up my phone first thing in the morning over the summer to take over. Instead of getting out of bed I would pick up my phone and check email, scroll, text, whatever I got sucked in to.

Then, by the time my feet actually hit the floor I felt like my day was behind.

I knew I needed a change. Summer was almost over. Homeschool will be starting up.

So, I thought to myself, what would Casey tell me to get me going again? You see, I have felt a little like an imposter for the last year. I have this blog that is supposed to help other women cultivate their homes and families for God’s glory. But I didn’t feel like I had things figured out anymore.

I was still coming out of a really hard season and trying to figure out where I belonged.

Let me give you a little backstory…

Reset Your Life After a Hard Season

A few years ago I was running a home daycare, homeschooling our boys, serving in ministry, planting a church, and sharing on this blog how to do things so you could win at life.

But then my life was bombarded with a sudden illness and subsequent death of my daddy, while simultaneously assisting my momma through double knee replacements and my younger brother being diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease. I was out of state to care for my family for several months during this time.

Then, after returning home for a couple months to finish going through the kidney donor qualification process for my brother, our older brother has a near-death illness put him in the hospital. Back to Kansas I went to be there for my family. By God’s grace he survives and gets to go home for a long road of recovery. *There is so much amazing to this story that I will tell sometime.

Shortly after, we found out that I was an ideal match for my younger brother.

A few months later we were struck with grief again when out older brother passed away due to heart failure.

But God.

A few weeks prior to his death he had professed faith in Christ and was seeking baptism!

We also received an email with our transplant surgery date. One year and one day after losing our dad.

The dust had barely settled after our brother’s funeral when our thoughts turned to preparing for surgery.

When Hard Seasons Last

I’d love to say everything went textbook perfect after our transplant surgery, but my brother experienced a year of complications and I developed some anxiety and possibly even some post-traumatic stress disorder.

My body, my mind, and my heart had been through the wringer! And in a longer version of this story I can recount all the ways God was an ever present help in our time of need, and the constant source of comfort and peace. However, this girl still had some dealing with things to do.

So I ended up finally getting to process the grief and emotions that were pent up in my body. *This can be a whole other story of how God healed my heart, body, and mind.

God put people in my path that helped me feel safe enough to finally grieve. I made some new health modifications to support my body in this next phase of life with one kidney. And finally felt like a heavy fog was lifting.

But it seemed like I had forgotten how to make things flow like they did before. I realized that I couldn’t make this new season of life fit into old rhythms. Too much had changed.

Our kids have changed.

Our family’s needs have changed.

I’ve changed.

Building a Rhythm for Right Now

Back to resetting my life. And your life.

Now that I know I can’t rely on what worked in the past to serve me for today, it was time to build a rhythm that would.

I had tried working out at different times during the day. But often would end up distracted or redirected by the needs of others.

It also became apparent that once I sat down to read my Bible, my posture for the day shifted and I was ready to meet the needs of my household.

So I needed to structure my rhythm in a way that felt natural and intentional for right now in my life.

My Actual Morning Rhythm

For now, for this 60 day reset, I am waking up and getting right out of bed. No more checking my phone and clearing off notifications.

THEY JUST SUCK YOU IN!

Next, after brushing my teeth and putting on some workout clothes, I head into the kitchen. Yesterday Casey usually thanks morning Casey for setting the coffee to brew automatically. If not, or if my husband hasn’t already, I’ll get the coffee pot brewing.

Then I head to the laundry room to rotate what the current situation is. Whether it is starting a fresh load, transferring last night’s wash to the dryer, or turning the dryer on for a quick tumble.

After that the dishwasher gets unloaded so it is ready to work for the morning. (I like to think of our appliances as my employees. Ha!)

Now it is time to head out to our garage for my morning workout. I have fashioned a simple home gym with free weights, resistance bands, a mat, a few more accessories and a tv so I can complete workout videos either in the garage or in the driveway.

Getting my blood pumping and moving weight at this point in my rhythm helps me be consistent. And I have noticed it makes my body crave more movement throughout the day!

Once my workout is complete and I have cooled down, I head inside to freshen up, get dressed, and make our bed.

Ready for the day, I then make my bulletproof coffee. Paired with my Bible I am set for a delightful 20 minutes or so on our front porch with the birds singing and purrs from our cats while I read and study the Word.

From here each day looks a little different.

Resetting Your Morning Rhythm Sets the Tone for Your Day

One thing I have noticed about my morning rhythm is how better prepared for my day I feel.

I have intentionally jumpstarted my homemaking rhythms by tackling the dishwasher and laundry.

I have taken care of my body by purposeful movement and exercise.

And I have set my heart posture heavenward spending time in the Word and in prayer.

Does that mean that this magical morning rhythm means I never have a bad day? Absolutely not!

But it is helping me BECOME a more rested, peaceful, intentional version of myself.

Resetting my morning rhythm for this season of my life is helping me to faithfully steward my morning hours for God’s glory and my good. And that spills over into how I am as a wife and mother in our household. And how I am as a daughter, sister, friend, and woman outside of our home.

It helps me to reorient my perspective on the things that matter today.

Where Does Our Reset Go From Here?

While I have some basic idea, I am just taking it one faithful step at a time.

I am starting with myself.

My personal rhythms.

Perspective.

My progress.

I want to refresh my perspective. Reboot our rhythms. Revive our home atmosphere.

While maintaining my mini morning reset, I will take notice of the current atmosphere of our home.

Is it an eternal-minded one, or a worldly-minded one?

The Invitation to Reset Your Life in 60 Days With Me

You don’t need to overhaul your life. You need only to faithfully tend what God has already placed in your hands.

I am inviting you to join me on this reset. A multi-post series of me authentically walking through this. Think old school blogger style. Before everything became about algorithms and SEO.

I am here to live an abundant life for Christ, to love and serve my family well, and to trust God for the outcome.

Not to be a model of perfection or a know-it-all.

I am experiencing all of this for the first time still.

I am still becoming.

Do you want to BECOME along with me?
